He was apprenticed to a goldsmith in 1880, allowing him to receive training in drawing, perspective and ceramics. Jensens dream was to be a sculptor, so he trained at a sculptor workshop, was accepted as a sculpture student and completed this training in 1892. After working as a silversmith in a store, he opened his own workshop in 1904.
Jensen had discovered the market for his sleek, simple pieces was larger than anyone had expected. His business grew quickly in different parts of Europe and a branch was even opened in New York City. By 1935, Jensen had branches all over the world and carried over 3,000 patterns. His work also won international recognition through exhibitions in other parts of Europe.
